Last updated: August 27 2025
1. Overview
FocusIn (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides a beta web service that helps users run distraction-blocking focus sessions with peer-gated unlocks (the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.
2. Eligibility & Accounts
The current MVP does not require a registered account. You must be at least 13 years old and have authority to enter into these Terms in your jurisdiction.
3. Acceptable Use
- No harassment, abuse, or illegal activity.
- No reverse-engineering, scraping, or exploiting vulnerabilities.
- No excessive automated traffic that degrades the Service.
4. Beta Nature
The Service is in beta. Features may change, break, or disappear without notice. We may suspend or terminate the Service at any time for any reason.
5. User Content
You retain ownership of display names, session names, and other content you provide. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive license to use that content solely to operate and improve the Service.
6. Intellectual Property
We retain all rights to the FocusIn name, logo, code, and product design. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works without our written permission.
7. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, nor that it will block every distraction or prevent circumvention.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed USD 100.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, liabilities, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if we believe you violate these Terms. Sections 6‒9 and 11 survive termination.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced via the Service or email if you have provided one. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
